Happy Women’s History Month! At Brace Life Studios we have the joy of working with some of the most influential women in business, politics, media and philanthropy. Part of our mission is supporting the wellness journeys of high performing women everywhere, so they can continue to effect change in the world with more strength, confidence, health and wellbeing. With so many women’s issues at stake in this year’s election, women have been facing an increase in stress related health issues due to anxiety associated with the election.
The Huffington Post reported that, “According to 2019’s Stress in America poll conducted by the American Psychological Association, 56% of adult Americans said the upcoming election is a stressor. That’s a slight uptick from 2016, when 52% said it caused stress.
Here is some self-love/self-care advice from the strong women clients of Brace Life Studios, who have worked in politics and are shaping and changing history.
Stephanie Young – Obama White House Senior Public Engagement Advisor
I take care of my body because it is the foundation of who I am. I feel powerful after a good workout; I cannot do the things that I want to do in this world—reach my goals and succeed or make any sort of impact — if my body is not strong. It’s the foundation for everything that I do. If you have not embraced your wellness journey you don’t even know what you’re missing! From just feeling positive on a daily basis to releasing your stress, to being the best that you can be for yourself, for your community, for your family and your career. Wellness means a mind, body, and soul at peace and at ease.
Jeanine Liburd – Chief Social Impact and Communications Officer for BET Networks
I take care of my body so that I can live as long as I can and enjoy the people I love. I feel the most confident when I’m with my sister-friends, my children, and with my family or when I’m doing something that I love, which is in the spirit and focus of Black women. My message to all Black women who haven’t yet embraced their body and their wellness journey is this: You only have one life and this is it, so you better get into it, love it, get your body right, and go for it!
