Throughout my life I have received an abundance of gifts. There are a few that are especially memorable: a doll that could talk; the shiny red 10-speed bicycle that was too big; my first car; that sparkling diamond ring; and my wonderful family. Most gifts were given because of a special occasion, a holiday, or my birthday. However, sometimes, my parents showered me with gifts for no specific reason at all. The most important gift they gave me, that I treasure the most, was telling me about the gift that God gave us all, baby Jesus. I learned about Jesus at home, church, and school.
God made the greatest sacrifice and gave us the greatest gift of all. We did not earn it and certainly did not deserve it; however, He saw that we needed it and freely gave it. It is written in John 3:16,
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
As you are giving gifts this holiday season, please consider giving someone the greatest gift of all, Jesus. Tell someone about the birth of Jesus Christ and His goodness! We all have a story to tell about how He has positively impacted our lives. My life has been truly blessed because I know Him. I am grateful that He walks with me through my many hills and valleys. I am never alone because He is with me; when afraid, He comforts me; and when I cannot talk to anyone else, I can talk to Him.
I challenge you to share this wonderful gift with just one person. If we all reach out, many just might come to know Jesus and their lives would surely be changed forever and the world would be a better place. There are many of our friends, families and foes who are living in darkness because they do not know Jesus. You could be the catalyst to help open their eyes so that they can see and know the brightest light and the greatest gift of all!
