Pastor Glen W. Gordon, Sr. was born in Pewee Valley, KY, to the late Augustus and Juanita Gordon. He graduated from Oldham County High School in Buckner, KY. After graduation, Pastor Gordon served in the United States Marine Corps from 1977 to 1980 and received an honorable discharge at the end of his tour of duty.
After serving his country, Pastor Gordon returned to his hometown and reunited with his home church, Kenwood Northeast Baptist Church. At Kenwood, he continued to serve God and loved singing with the Brotherhood and participating in the outreach ministry. Pastor Gordon was later appointed as a Deacon and served with a heart for God's word for many years. Eventually, he acknowledged the call to preach the gospel and was grateful for God's blessings and the opportunity to lead worship and teach others.
Â
Pastor Gordon went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Simmons College of Kentucky (formerly Simmons Bible College). Following the guidance of the Holy Spirit, he was called to serve as the Pastor of Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brandenburg, KY, where he dedicated 12 and a half years of service. Zion Grove was a long-standing member of the General Association of Baptists in Kentucky. Pastor Gordon helped the church become dually aligned by joining The Salem Association, which consisted of 19 other neighboring churches, and The Kentucky Baptist Convention. His love and commitment to the members and community were reflected in his outreach efforts towards the community. Additionally, Pastor Gordon held the positions of vice moderator and moderator of The Mount Calvary District.
Â
After Pastor Gordon completed his pastoral assignment at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church, he felt God's calling to unite with St. James Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as an Associate Minister for five years under the guidance of Pastor Allen Evans, Jr.
Â
Pastor Gordon was actively involved in several roles at St. James, including the Christian Education Team, Missions Ministry, Youth Ministry, and singing with the male chorus. After a while, he felt God’s call to Pastor again. When Pastor Evans, announced his retirement, the St. James Church, through much prayer and fasting, believed that Pastor Gordon was the right person to succeed Pastor Evans. And by God’s sovereign providence, Pastor Gordon was called to be the ninth Pastor of St. James Missionary Baptist Church.
Â
As the St. James Missionary Baptist Church family welcomes Pastor Gordon into his new role, they do so with anticipation and excitement for the journey ahead. With faith as their guide and Pastor Gordon's leadership to inspire them, they look forward to continuing their mission of spreading love, compassion, and the message of hope to all who walk through their doors. As Pastor Gordon steps into his new role, he carries forward the rich legacy established by Pastor Evans, while also bringing his unique vision and perspective to the congregation.
Â
Pastor Gordon is happily married to the former Robin Elaine Williams. Together, they have been blessed with a beautiful family consisting of five sons and one daughter. Their family has grown even more prominent with the addition of thirteen grandchildren, who bring immense joy and happiness to their lives. It is a true testament to the blessings of a strong and loving marriage.
