"Hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, Garry Spotts is the son of Viola Spotts-Dawson and the Late Rev. George M. Spotts. A graduate of the University of Kentucky Grehan School of Journalism in 1982, he continued his education, earning the Master of Divinity degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1987

Compelled to ministry at age 15, Garry was licensed to ministry on March 28, 1976, under Rev. H. Donald Cockerham. His college sweetheart is his devoted wife, Ms. Annette Carlisle-Spotts. They are happy to call Jessica Carlisle, Shukura Adams (Spotts), and the late Gyasi M. Spotts their children. They are fortunate to be the grandparents of Aniyah (9), GeMari (8), Aidan (6), and soon to be born, Aniken.

Garry has served many ministries and professional positions, including 3.5 years as the Academic Dean of Simmons Bible College (now Simmons College of Kentucky) under Dr. W.J. Hodge. An Academic Adviser to First-Year Students at Miami University of Ohio and Assistant Pastor of The Pilgrim Baptist Church of Hamilton, OH, under The Late Dr. Norman Townsel Sr.

He returned to Louisville in 1990. After his return, he served The St. Stephen Baptist Church as Executive Director of the Family Life Center and Minister of Church Development. In 1993 he launched a consulting practice serving non-profits, educators, students, parents, and small businesses.

Garry served with Rev. Cockerham at the Zion Baptist Church of Louisville, KY, as the Minister of Education and Staff Development from 1998 until 2005. Garry served as the Senior Pastor of the Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville, KY, from 2010 to 2017.
